Scotch Plains, NJ was settled in 1684 by Scotch immigrants and gradually developed into a a farming community.  It now has a diverse population of 23,510, reflecting many ethnic, religious and age groups.  Scotch Plains offers a vibrant downtown with shopping and casual and fine dining, beautiful parks, plenty of recreational opportunities and excellent schools!  If you like be close to town and NYC transportation, the north side of town is for you! If you like a quieter location with a large backyard, extensive property, you can settle in the bucolic south side of town.  Scotch Plains is the perfect town for everyone!
